Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation

Ever in the search for the “perfect” foundation, I caved and bought the Dream Smooth Mousse foundation after seeing a commercial on television. It comes in a compact with its own sponge for application included. I bought the creamy natural shade and hurried home to try it.

One of my biggest pet peeves with foundation is that if it ends up sitting in my pores, out it goes and I bad mouth it to everyone I know. So basically, that is the first thing I look for when I apply any foundation. This foundation went on very smoothly and it did not end up sitting in my pores. First test passed. It also blended very easily on my skin and covered fairly well. I wasn’t looking for heavy coverage and this offers a light to medium coverage depending on how much you apply.

The foundation feels very light on the skin and the commercial states that it will hydrate your skin for up to 14 hours. I was somewhat concerned about that because I do have an oilier complexion, but it didn’t shine up on me too badly and what little shine did happen was on my nose and chin and a little spot of powder took care of that. I found that the shade I had chosen was the right one for me. I am very fair skinned and the creamy natural worked well.

I bought the makeup at my local grocery store and it was on sale for $9.00. Regularly selling for about $15.00 which is not too bad a price. I’ve had foundations that I’ve paid much more for that didn’t cover as well or last as long as this one did. I liked that they include the sponge with the compact, but I usually use disposable sponges just because I am lazy and hate washing them.

All in all, I give the foundation high marks in coverage and ease of application. It would be a great one for people with a dryer skin because it does hydrate well. Those of us with oilier skins might want to try something a little less “hydrating” because of that fact. But as my skin ages, I find I can wear a more hydrating foundation and have less of a shine problem, so those of you who are younger with oily skin, I might not recommend this foundation for, just yet.

The price is good as for as Maybelline foundations go and I also bought a concealer and a blush in the same line which I will be reviewing soon. I give Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation by Maybelline a 7 out of 10.
