Makeup is not one of the favorite parts of my beauty regimen. When I was younger, I loved wearing it, but now that I’m older, it seems like a little too much trouble. Still from time to time I do choose to wear cosmetics. When I do, I want it to be as easy and painless to apply as possible, while still doing a great job.
I’ve always had problem with eye shadow. For years, I stuck with a neutral brown shade simply because I couldn’t figure out what other colors looked best on me. Today, however, I really like experimenting with different colors as well as different ways of applying eye shadow. I’m always looking for new methods to make my eyes “pop” and for colors that flatter my skin tone.
Powder shadows are better for women of a certain age. They are less likely to stick in the fine lines around the eyes; making the skin look older instead of adding to a woman’s natural beauty.
One of my favorite powder shadows comes from Maybelline. It is called Shadow Stylist. First of all, I love the container. Instead of a pot or compact, Shadow Stylist comes in a modern container that resembles an upscale nail polish bottle. The best way to describe it is “cone shaped”. It’s so pretty that you can leave it out on your vanity if you choose and yet small that it fits anywhere you need to store it.
The powder of Shadow Stylist is micro-fine so that it doesn’t creep into places you don’t want it to go, making it perfectly safe even for the most sensitive eyes. The product has been both dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested. Because Shadow Stylist is fragrance free, it can be worn by almost everyone. It is also believed to be safe for those who wear contacts.
The soft, sponge applicator delivers the shadow’s high intensity color. It glides on smoothly without tugging at the delicate skin area around the eye. One sweep delivers the perfect amount of light color. A second sweep deepens the color for a night on the town. Adding lighter shades to highlight and darker shades to contour the eyes can intensify the look even further.
Shadow stylist comes in a wide variety of shades including contemporary white (pale silvery white), elegant pearl (pale peachy beige), romantic pink (a slightly dusty pink), rich violet (a lovely purple), vintage champagne (skin tone pink), trendy blue (turquoise), casual brown (a deep peachy brown), opulent green (silvery sage), urban gray (charcoal), sleek brown (chocolate), sophisticated wine (burgundy purple), and elegant black.
Shadow Stylist can be purchased anywhere that Maybelline beauty products are sold. That includes discount department stores, drug stores, and even a few grocery marts. It ranges in price from $7.99 to $10.99, depending upon where it is purchased.
I love this eye shadow, perhaps even more than some of my other favorites like Physicians Formulas baked collection or Bare Escentuals stunning glimmers. I think Shadow Stylist is as close to perfect as can be found anywhere. It easily rates five out of five stars.
