Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in “V.I.P” – My Honest Review

a

Hey everyone! Today I’m reviewing the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadow in the shade “V.I.P.” I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now and have some mixed feelings to share. Let’s dive right in!

First off, the color…what you see online is NOT what you get! Online, V.I.P looks like a beautiful shimmery champagne. But in person, it’s more of a dull peachy-orange – NOT CUTE. 😠 I was really disappointed by how different it looked IRL.

Now let’s talk performance. The good news is the texture is nice and creamy. It’s easy to apply with your finger and blend out. You can build up the color or keep it sheer, which is great!

BUT the big issue is creasing…this shadow creases like CRAZY within a few hours! 😩 No matter what primer I used, I couldn’t keep it from settling into my lines. Major fail in the longevity department.

Pigmentation is also hit or miss. Some people said the color payoff was great but I found it quite sheer. I really had to layer it on to get a visible effect, and even then it wasn’t very impactful. Womp womp.

It’s not a total bust though! I did find that it works pretty well as a base for powder eyeshadows. It helps the colors on top really pop and stand out! So if you’re looking for a shadow primer, this could do the trick.

Some people said their shadow arrived all dry and crumbly – luckily that wasn’t the case for me! The consistency was smooth and creamy in my pot. But sounds like quality control might be lacking. 🙄

When it comes to removal…this shadow does NOT want to budge! The 24 hour claim is no joke lol. Make sure you’ve got a good cleansing oil or balm handy to take it off. But I’m not a fan of having to harshly rub my eyes, so that’s kind of a drawback IMO!

I do think the packaging is super cute – love the little glass jar! Feels sturdy and looks nice on the vanity. However, you only get a measly 0.14 oz of product. 😒 For the price, I wish they gave you more!

So bottom line…do I recommend this shadow? Ehhhh it really depends! If you want an easy, long-wearing cream shadow, this ain’t it sis! The creasing is BAD and the color payoff is weak sauce. But if you’re looking for an eyeshadow base to make your powder shadows pop, it does an okay job! Just don’t expect it to look anything like the online photos LOL.

My advice? See if you can swatch this in store before buying! The shade V.I.P was a total miss for me but maybe the other colors perform better. However, reviews seem really mixed across the board so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Proceed with caution!

Overall, I’d give the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadow a 3/5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐ It’s not the worst thing I’ve tried but definitely not a holy grail either! There are some pros but the cons are a bit too much to overlook, especially for the price point. I’d say snag it on sale if you’re curious but don’t get your hopes up!

If you’ve tried this shadow, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Did you love it or hate it?? Leave me a comment and let me know! And if you have any tips for making it work better, HELP A GIRL OUT! 😂

Thanks for reading my rambling review! 😘 Until next time, xoxo!
